PDX Music Magazine was born from a late night conversation between two friends who couldn't stop talking about the music scene around them. Co-founders Tripp Watson and Leah Flores decided that Portland's musicians, venues, and shows deserved a publication built by people who were already deeply embedded in the community, so they made one.
Tripp brings an editor's eye and a background in literary publishing, having worked with the Portland based publishing collective Chunk. He's also a musician himself, playing in the local goth band Strzyga, giving him a firsthand understanding of what it takes to create and perform. Leah is a professional photographer who has spent years capturing bands on stages across the country, bringing a visual storytelling sensibility to every show she covers.
Together, they combined their backgrounds, Tripp's sharp editorial instincts and Leah's eye for images, into a magazine that treats Portland's music scene with the attention and craft it deserves. From concert reviews to artist features, PDX Music Magazine exists to document the sound of this city, one show at a time.
